About Me

My husband and I have been married 18 years.  We have one biological son, whom we sent to a private preschool and public kindergarten before deciding to homeschool and be foster parents.  It all sort of happened at the same time, but God had been preparing us for this all along, I believe.

We met at college here in Kentucky and dated off and on, then ended up engaged well before graduation.  My degree is a BS in agriculture and he was a chemist/musician major but now is a Certified Financial Planner, doing what he loves.  I am now a stay-at-home mom, which I love.

I've always loved animals.  We have had a horse, several dogs and cats, and various smaller creatures over the yeas.  Currently, we are down to one large dog and two cats, after moving to a subdivision in 2017 from the farm.

I've always loved children, and spent some teenage summers as a camp counselor.  I've worked with different groups of kids at church, and tried my hand a substitute teaching.  I've always been told I would make a great teacher, but the traditional classroom has never felt right to me.  So, I taught my own son, using Ambleside Online's free curriculum and the Charlotte Mason method from 1st-7th grades.  Now that he is a moody teen who needs to make more of his own decisions, we have taken a side trail to a computer-based curriculum.  *sad face*

So, down a long, meandering road we went.  This blog has focused on homeschooling for several years, but I have had a year off and will now change directions a bit, as life leads.

I hope this blog is helpful and encouraging to you on your life journey!
